Youth Pastor and Parent Resources

Mini Leadership Training Sessions

The NYI Council did not want to leave youth leaders and students without resources to train up leaders on our district. We will be releasing different Mini Leadership Training Sessions for churches, parents and students to use to learn together and grow in their leadership.

Training #1:

GO/GROW/GLOW by Pastor Quinton Gold, The Naz Fergus Falls

Whether you believe it or not, you have an important story to share with the world. But with God, you don't need to have a big or dramatic story of how God has changed your life. Your story matters, but it's the story of Jesus that really changes lives.

If you're not sure what you think about Jesus quite yet, that's okay. If you're reading this, there's a pretty good chance that God has already been working on something in your life and in your faith.

And if you already know Jesus, you've heard the most important news ever – that Jesus changes everything. Now it's up to you to share that good news with others.

You don't need to be an expert to share the good news of Jesus. You don't need to be the best speaker or writer. You don't have to be popular or influential. You don't even need anyone's permission, because Jesus has already given you all the permission you need.

So don't be afraid. You have a mission to accomplish!

So go. And grow. And glow.

Please use these resources in small groups, youth group, at home or with friends to learn together.

NYI Convention 2020

Here is Everything you need to know about NYI Convention plan B

  • We will not hold an online convention.

  • We will still be electing a new NYI Council. Please complete your NYI delegate forms that Lindsay sent out with all reporting documents and return them by June 20 with the rest of your year-end reports. The form can also be found on our NYI website

  • Once we have your delegate names we will email each church a digital ballot. Each delegate, lead pastor, NYI president, and youth pastor will need to vote by a set date. (tbd once we have delegate forms - so get them in by the 20th!)

  • We will announce the new NYI Council in August.

  • Jourdan Suos, NYI President, will present her report to the District Advisory Board on Monday, August 3. The report will be available in the district journal.

The NYI Council is working on ideas to connect students to one another. We will be providing some special sessions covering topics that students have asked us to talk about: How to evangelize to your friends, mental health/suicide awareness, racial reconciliation, and more. You can expect the first one to be available in July. It will be a recording to watch as a youth group, small group, or family. We will include a conversation guide and resources for continued learning.

The NYI Council also wants to help groups get together in person. Local youth groups, zones, or churches that are located close to one another - Being in smaller groups you will be able to have bonfires, cookouts, game nights, and bible studies. We want to encourage groups to get together in safe and responsible ways while following the CDC and local guidelines. If you want help connecting with other churches, brainstorming ideas or need resources please contact the NYI President Jourdan Suos
